Day 1

Ah, Hello_World, I am writing this blog later than I had hoped I would be, but hey, thats what traveling will do to you. Even so, I will write this and other blog posts like I dont know what happens next!

The day began nice and early at 10AM pst, I rolled out of bed and headed for the kitchen for breakfast. We had delicious steaks marinaded in our skunk sause (so called because it smells exactly like a skunk) the night before with leftovers. That means steak and eggs for breakfast! Being that this is to be my last meal at home for quite some time, I decited to make the most of it. Breakfast done its time to throw the last few things in the car, and load dads stuff. One quick trip to the bank, the gas station, and the auto part store later and we are finaly out of town! The time is now something like 12:40, nice early start!

As we neared lapwai we where routed arround the town by a police detour, checking the news now it was likely the collision earlyer that day at 11 (thank God for our late start eh?).

After that it was fairly smooth sailing for quite a ways, we threw on The Color of Magic by Terry Prachett. It is a higly entertaining book in the Diskworld series and set on a world that really is a flat disk riding on the back of a giant turtle. Hillarious read, think hitchhikers guide to the galaxy: fantasy edition.
Anyway, there is nothing like an audiobook to make the miles just melt away. And let me tell you, they are some of the most beautifull miles you can see! Or atleast, they are at this time of the year!.

Fortunatly they are also usefull at road construction! Which is good, because we must have spent an hour at this construction sight with one verry board flagger. This poor guy is trying to get all the shade he can. Anyhow, it was about this time I turned on geolocation on the images just so I would remember where they where taken. I generaly leave it off for privacy, but who cares if anyone knows where I was if I dont live there right? I will turn it back off at Corpus Cristi.

Well it wasnt long after that construction when we ran into another construction site! It was funny because we drove for a while after that last construction, but if you compare the license plate number on that car ahead of us at both spots you might notice something interesting... Fortunatly this one had a light and we cleared it rather quickly compaired to the previous stop. On to the wonderfull town of New Medows, home of a Subway, a A&W, a gass station, and nothing else. Well, nothing except this sign telling us to make sure our pets over heat. Although, I should say there is a rather cool mens room in the gas station, so if you are visiting, check it out.

Half an hour out of New Medows we run right into ROAD CONSTRUCTION!!!! (again) But this time we managed to loose that creapy white car that was stocking us from in front.

An hour later we pulled into a rest stop somewhere, dont remember where, check the geotag, but it is on the higway to Boise. Nice place to streatch the legs and an amazing view!

well, time to press on, and head on down to Boise! At some point durring the drive it started to storm and left behind this absolutly amazing rainbow! If you look cairfully, its actually a double rainbow even! It was at this time that I discovered the timelapse feature of my phone and took a quick timelapse. part way through Boise I noticed this sign for Sleep Inn, all that I really want to do right now! Doubt that is going to happen. Part way through I noticed that that the rainbow had completely turned red because of the sunset! That was an interesting time. At the other side of Boise we stopped for gas and I noticed the sunset comming under the storm. It was quite awe inspiring really. You know a feature I love in cameras? Night mode, when it works, it works! We finially made it to the La Quinta in Twin falls at 12:40pm MT or so, this effectivly ment we turned an 8 hour day into a 12 hour day. This combined with the fact that the hotell stops surving breakfast at 9:00 AM means we have a short night tonight. Still time for a quick dip in the hot tub. On the way in I noticed a cool vortex in the pool and stopped to get a picture and video of it with my waterproof phone. Man I love ip67 rated phones! Why didnt we do this sooner! I am officialy further south than I have ever been before. And I will still go 3 or 4 times more south. I was too tired to set up my hammock and decited to try the bed. Whats the worst that could happen right? See you all in 7 hours! Yay for early breakfast >:(
